Three men in the throes of modern art: Successful Serge has just bought an oil painting for 200 000. This work of art is completely white and quickly becomes the source of turbulent conflict between him and his two friends. Mark thinks the painting is dog shit, for Yvan it’s dog shit with some thought put into it, and Serge remains convinced that it’s art. Serge calls Marc humourless, Marc calls Serge a snob and Yvan has his own problems to figure out.

In this argument about disappointment, career frustrations, and new attachments the three old friends are confronted with the realisation that their lives have slowly been drifting apart.

Yasmina Reza - born 1959 in Paris - writes comedies in which she effortlessly and imperceptibly moves between the light and darkness of everyday life.
